OFFERING THE ULTIMATE OWNER’S EXPERIENCE, THE NEW JEANNEAU YACHTS 55 HAS ARRIVED IN AUSTRALIA AND WILL BE SHOWCASED AT SANCTUARY COVE INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW.
For over 65 years Jeanneau has been building boats with detail and passion. In 1957 the first model, a wooden powerboat, was hand-crafted by Henri Jeanneau before the first fibreglass model was created the next year. A long history of beautiful yachts was born.
“The Jeanneau Yachts 55 is the newest model in the range to grace Australian waters and I see it as a true representation of the modern vision from the brand’s original founder,” says Lee Condell, Performance Boating Sales Director (performanceboating.com.au). “As a dealer who has been bringing Jeanneau sailing yachts to Australia for over 20 years, I am always impressed by their innovation and attention to what sailors want from their yachts. For those that get to view this new model at the 2025 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, I am sure they will agree.”
The Jeanneau Yachts range is separate, though complementary to the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey range and currently consists of three models, the Jeanneau Yachts 65, 60 and the 55. Designed by naval architect Philippe Briand, with internals created by the design house of ndrew Winch, the Jeanneau Yachts 55 displays a unique pedigree of looks, sea worthiness, and cutting-edge innovation.
An owners first interior
The Jeanneau Yachts 55 is designed as an owner’s yacht with two thirds of the internal layout dedicated to them. This ‘apartment’ gives you total privacy when required and contains the main saloon, a J-shaped galley, and a spacious master cabin that rivals five-star hotels.
The forward master cabin is spread across the full width of the hull with a large double berth, a wardrobe and chest of drawers, and a comfortable sofa adjoining an optional vanity desk. Storage is bountiful with additional cabinets and drawers beneath the bed. Two sliding doors open to the main cabin enhancing the spacious and light filled feel. The master cabin ensuite is located forward and includes a separate shower, a spacious head and a full-size wash basin. A dedicated opening porthole ensures air flow and light.
Two guest cabins
A unique feature of the Jeanneau Yachts 55 is the inclusion of two guest cabins. Located aft, both of these cabins have their own entrance, a private bathroom, and 1.98m headroom. Both cabins offer a large double berth, ample natural light and a wardrobe. The slightly larger port side guest cabin also has a sofa and even an optional mini bar for those that like their quiet time. Another option on the Jeanneau Yachts 55 is the independent skipper’s cabin. Situated in the front peak, the cabin is accessed through a lockable front hatch. It can sleep two in bunk beds.
Deck life
The full-beam cockpit of the Jeanneau Yachts 55 is dedicated to relaxation. There are three lounging areas within the stern area, and another on the foredeck, giving you choices to indulge in the sunshine or to escape to privacy. The innovative walkaround style of the deck layout with flush foredeck makes moving forward at anchor or underway an easy experience. The two lounge areas at the stern, one L-shaped and one U-shaped, have tables that can be placed at different heights. They also can be lowered, with cushions placed on top to create large sun beds.
A range of concepts are available to create your bespoke ‘sunroom’ forward of the twin helms. With a standard arch the Jeanneau Yachts 55 can include a rigid or canvas sprayhood, a hardtop with sunroof that extends aft, and even a removable full enclosure option.
Sailing
Jeanneau always appreciates that along with comfort, luxury and innovation, sailors like a yacht that performs. As ocean cruisers, the Jeanneau Yachts range have a pedigree that lives up to that desire.
The twin helm station of the Jeanneau Yachts 55 does not interfere with the comfort aspect and is set forward to benefit from the protected cockpit area. The sail control is designed to make it easy for a couple, or for the helmsperson to be solely in charge when necessary. Four Harken winches, with electric rewind models as an option, are within reach. Instruments, throttle, and line clutches are also easy to access. Sail plans include in-mast furling, self-taking headsails, cutter sail on furler, and spinnakers.
For manoeuvring in and out of berths and tight spaces, or for those windless days, a Yanmar 110hp diesel engine comes as standard with a fuel capacity of 230 litres, and the option of an extra 230-litre tank.
